Why Squarespace is a Great Web Platform
Wordpress, Wix, Weebly, Squarespace - how do you choose the web site platform that’s best for you?
I’ve designed and built websites in every way possible, from hand coding to using complex proprietary systems, as well as popular platforms such as Wordpress and Wix - but I will now only design and build websites using Squarespace.
Why? Squarespace (SS) hits the sweet spot of Web software:
Beautiful and flexible design options
Easy, intuitive updating
Secure and powerful back-end
Integrates easily with other systems
Simple all-in-one solution
Design - Squarespace offers hundreds of beautiful templates, and all of them are completely customizeable. Check out their (older but still great) templates by topic or their newer templates, also organized by topic. You can start with a template and adjust endlessly. Good imagery is the key to any website, and SS offers excellent free and paid stock photos if you don’t have your own good photos.
Easy updating - Basic updates to images and text are super easy so you’ll update your site whenever it needs it.
Secure and powerful - all SS sites are automatically protected with SSL; they manage software security updates, and all software is hosted within SS’s ultra secure hosting environment. The main problem I had with Wordpress was getting sites hacked, either through the software or external hosting - which just isn’t an issue with SS.
Integration with other systems - It’s so easy to integrate with other powerful systems such as G-Suite, Accuity Scheduling, e-commerce, payments, etc - check out this detailed list of easy SS integrations.
Simple all-in-one solution - You want to focus on your art or your business; you don’t want to spend too much time on technology. Content updates, blogging, web hosting, domain registration and renewal, stock photos, scheduling, SEO, security - SS takes care of all the critical details for your website in one dashboard for easy organization that saves you time.
