Artist Website Redesign

Jill is a talented artist who creates hand-colored linocuts and mixed media of architecture and landscapes. Her former site was flat, plain, difficult to update, and did not display the vibrancy of her artwork.

As a professional artist who displays her work in several galleries, and sells her art on Etsy and in local shows, Jill needed a new site that allowed her site visitors to view the vibrancy and detail of her complex work. And she needed a site that was easy to update and provided flexibility in terms of colors, fonts and layouts.

Jill wanted a minimal site where her art work would take center stage. Her new site displays her beautiful hand painted linocuts boldly, in both gallery and slideshow formats so you can see the breadth and depth of her work easily.

Jill also wanted to incorporate a blog where she could update her followers - so we created Studio Notes, where Jill shares photos and updates on her latest artwork.

For selling her work, Jill chose to continue with her Etsy shop, so we linked to the shop by category, along with links to upcoming in-person galleries and shows.

Key strengths of the new site

  • Simple top navigation to Portfolio, Shop, About and Blog pages.

  • New logotype is distinctive yet simple and integrates with the artwork.

  • Design - layout, fonts and color palette - is clean and minimal.

  • Beautiful artwork displays its vibrancy and energy.

  • Easy to update, so new artwork and blog posts are easily added

“My old website was clunky and difficult to update, so it never got updated. I spent 2 years trying to “find the time” to update and change my website and never did. Judy was able to really listen to what I wanted and create a cohesive site where my work is the stand out element. She simplified things and created easy pathways for me to make updates as I need them. I love that now my artwork is the focus - big and bold.

Judy was very easy to work with, listened to what I wanted as the client then made suggestions based on her knowledge of user ease and visibility. She was on time and there were no hidden costs. I would most certainly recommend JC Web Studio to a friend!”
