Oak Park Art League

Website Redesign, Non-Profit Art Gallery & Studio

The Oak Park Art League needed a new website that presented their many classes, exhibits, and other events, in an organized and visually pleasing way. They also needed a website that was easy to update, so they could update class and exhibit information - text and photos - easily and quickly, without breaking. Wix and Wordpress were both difficult to use, especially with a fairly complex site, so Squarespace was selected and a new site was launched fairly quickly.

As a site that represents many talented artists, I designed a simple site architecture and styling that takes advantage of the beautiful art work created by the member artists. High quality photos is key here. The art work visually engages visitors to the site, and communicates the wealth of talent that the Oak Park Art League represents. The artwork on each page can be easily updated to keep the site fresh.

Key strengths of the new site

  • Visual display of beautiful artwork on most pages.

  • Top navigation makes it easy to find classes and events for new visitors.

  • Home page is clean and uncluttered while displaying key upcoming events.

  • Easy to update, so content is fresh.

“Judy took OPAL’s old website from boring and hard to navigate to brilliant and user friendly. She listened to what our needs were, created pages and layouts accordingly and made suggestions and created a format that fit our visual and end user needs. She supplied OPAL with documentation of updates, kept the project moving in a timely manner and was able to offer her expertise to train staff on how to update the site on our own.”
